Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We used The Pros to fence in our backyard, and we had a great experience! After putting in a request online for a free estimate, we were contacted promptly by Jimy. He was friendly, professional, and very easy to schedule with! He arrived on time to give us our estimate, and was great at breaking down all of the options and logistics. The communication moving forward was also very smooth, and the online payment system was very easy to use!

Moses was our project manager, and he was incredibly friendly, professional and efficient. He and his crew did an amazing job! Our project was completed earlier than we anticipated, and it exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend The Pros for your next project!

The office and designer were responsive throughout the project and the install crew was efficient, friendly, and tidy throughout the project. We would recommend them to others for landscaping projects.

FAQs on Custom Shade, Pergolas, Patios & Pools Building

What is a horizontal fence?

A horizontal fence is a modern style of fencing where boards or slats are installed horizontally instead of vertically. This design creates a sleek, contemporary look that enhances curb appeal and property value while providing privacy and durability.

Are horizontal fences durable?

Yes. Horizontal fences are built with strong materials like cedar, redwood, pressure-treated wood, vinyl, aluminum, or composite. When properly installed and maintained, they can last 20+ years while withstanding harsh weather conditions.

What materials are best for horizontal fence installation?

The most popular materials include:

Wood (cedar, redwood, pine) – natural beauty and customizable.
Vinyl – low-maintenance and weather-resistant.
Composite – eco-friendly, durable, and modern.
Aluminum or steel – strong, sleek, and long-lasting.

How much does a horizontal fence cost?

The cost of a horizontal fence depends on the material, design, height, and length. On average, homeowners spend between $30–$60 per linear foot. Custom designs or premium materials may increase the price.

Do horizontal fences provide privacy?

Yes. A horizontal fence can be built with tightly spaced boards for full privacy, or with gaps for a semi-private, modern look. Many homeowners prefer it around backyards, pools, or patios.

Are horizontal fences better than vertical fences?

Both have pros and cons. Horizontal fences offer a modern, stylish design that makes yards look more spacious. Vertical fences are more traditional and may be cheaper. The choice depends on budget, design preference, and property needs.

How tall can a horizontal fence be?

Most residential horizontal fences are 4–8 feet tall, depending on local building codes and HOA regulations. Taller fences provide more privacy and security.

Can horizontal fences be customized?

Absolutely. You can choose from different wood stains, paint colors, decorative metal accents, lattice tops, lighting, or slat widths to match your outdoor living space and landscaping design.

Do horizontal fences need maintenance?

Yes, especially wood fences. Regular staining, painting, or sealing helps prevent rot, fading, and insect damage. Vinyl, composite, and aluminum require less maintenance.
