We clear your property before winter sets in. Our fall yard cleanup in Massachusetts covers leaf removal, cutback, bed prep, and a final mow. We work around your own leaf drop. And we finish before the ground freezes.
What Our Fall Yard Cleanup in Massachusetts Includes
- Leaf removal — blown, collected, and hauled away, or mulched in place where that suits the lawn
- Final mow — cut to the right height going into winter
- Perennial cutback — spent growth removed, structure left where it adds winter interest
- Bed winterizing — an insulating mulch layer over vulnerable plantings
- Debris and branch removal — cleared before snow buries it
How We Schedule Around Your Leaf Drop
Leaves here fall over roughly six weeks, not one weekend. Our tree cover is heavy. So we schedule to your trees, not to a fixed date.
| Window | What’s Falling | How We Handle It |
| Late September | Ash, birch, early maple | Usually too early to start |
| Mid October | Sugar maple, red maple, hickory | First pass on wooded lots |
| Late October | Most species at peak drop | Prime cleanup window |
| November | Oak, beech, late holdouts | Final pass before frozen ground |
Oaks cause most timing errors. They hold their leaves for weeks after the maples finish. Some hold into December. So we plan a later final visit for oak lots.
Wet leaves change the job too. They weigh more and mat down faster. A cleanup after heavy rain takes longer, and it matters more.

Single Visit or Multi-Visit Service
We offer both. Which one suits you depends on your tree cover.
Multi-visit service runs several passes through the season. It keeps the lawn clear as leaves drop. It costs less per visit, and it suits wooded lots best.
One final cleanup is a single deep pass after most leaves are down. That’s usually late October into November. It’s simpler, and it suits open lots.
Either way, we finish before the ground freezes and the first real snow arrives.
How We Price It
We quote per property. Leaf volume drives the number most. Mature oaks and maples drop far more than an open lot. Visit count matters too. We give you a firm number once we’ve seen the site.

Book It With Your Other Fall Work
Fall cleanup lands in the same weeks as irrigation blowout and snow booking. We schedule them together for two reasons.
Bundling saves 10 to 20% against booking each on its own. Snow routes also fill early. Lock your snow and ice slot while we book cleanup. Then you’re not calling around after the first storm warning.
Frequently Asked Questions
When should fall yard cleanup in Massachusetts happen? Late October into November for a single cleanup, once most leaves are down. Multi-visit service starts earlier and runs through the drop. Either way, we finish before the ground freezes.
What affects the cost of fall cleanup? Leaf volume drives it most. Mature oaks and maples drop far more than an open lot. Wet leaves take longer than dry ones. Visit count matters too, so we quote after seeing your yard.
Do I need one cleanup or several? It depends on your tree cover. Leaves here drop over roughly six weeks. Wooded lots do better with several visits. Open lots often manage with one deep pass.
What happens if I skip fall cleanup? Matted leaves smother grass and trap moisture. That brings mold, pests, and dead patches. Spring repairs run $300 to $500 in seed or sod. That’s often more than the cleanup itself.
Can you mulch leaves instead of removing them? Sometimes. A light layer mulched into the lawn feeds the soil. A heavy layer has to come off. Mulch too much and you smother the turf we’re protecting.
How early should I book? Before October if you can. Fall routes and snow contracts fill at the same time, and booking both together usually saves money.
Why Homeowners Choose The Pros, Inc.
We’ve handled fall cleanups across the North Shore, Essex County, and Middlesex County for 20+ years. We time the work to real leaf drop and the freeze deadline. Our approach follows UMass Extension turf guidance on winter lawn care.
Cleanup pairs well with garden design and full landscape design. We shut down water features for winter too. Then we return for spring cleanup once the snow clears. See what our customers say.
