Where We Place It, and Why
Placement decides how many months you use the space. Two factors matter most here.
Wind, not temperature. In spring and fall, wind is what sends people inside. So we look at the exposed side of your property and screen it, using a seat wall, a hedge, or a panel. That usually adds more usable evenings than a heater does.
Sun angle by season. Where shade falls in June is not where it falls in September. We check both before fixing the location, so the space works in the shoulder seasons and not only at peak summer.
We also look at the view from inside the house. A lounge zone you can see from the kitchen gets used far more than one tucked out of sight.
Built for Winter, Not Just July
The surface under your furniture is a patio first. So it gets the same deep base as any hardscape we lay. Skip that step and the whole zone settles and tilts within a few winters.
We also plan for storage. Cushions and lightweight furniture need somewhere to go for five months. Where it helps, we build in a bench with storage underneath, or size a nearby structure to take it.
For materials, we specify what survives freeze-thaw. Powder-coated aluminum, teak, and quality all-weather wicker all hold up. Cheaper frames rust and split after two or three winters here.
What Shapes Your Price
Three things move the number. The surface comes first, since a patio or deck is the biggest single piece. Then shade structures, then the fire feature and lighting. We price each separately, so you can build it all at once or add layers over a couple of seasons.
